Under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, Canola Council of Canada, Alberta Canola, SaskCanola and Manitoba Canola Growers Association and AAFC are looking to build on the continued success of the Canola AgriScience Research Cluster in developing a fourth robust research program.

The Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission (SaskCanola) has committed $1.14 million to 10 research projects funded under the Saskatchewan Agriculture Development Fund (ADF) in 2021.

Following the Annual General Meeting on January 11, SaskCanola’s Board of Directors elected Charlene Bradley as Board Chair.

SaskCanola will work with the provincial and federal governments to make contracts more fair to producers; and will support efforts to inform producers of their rights and responsibilities with regards to grain contracts.

At Agribition 2021, SaskCanola met with three members of the Conservative Shadow Cabinet to discuss a number of policy issues affecting farmers.

Producer groups’ letter to Minister Marit, re: grain contracts and export sales reporting

Grower organizations representing the more than 44,000 grain, pulse, and oilseed farmers in Saskatchewan are urging the Western Grain Elevator Association (WGEA) and its members to work with farmers and eliminate administration fees and penalties for the 2021-2022 growing season.

SaskCanola will make every effort to keep growers updated on issues related to the drought as the growing season progresses.

A coalition of Saskatchewan producer groups is calling for the creation of an Export Sales Reporting Program to improve market transparency for farmers.
