Policy Overview

SaskCanola advocates on farmers’ behalf to government at the municipal, provincial and national levels. We share research and grower opinions with parliamentarians, legislators and government officials, so that policy and regulations are data driven and backed by sound science. These actions protect market access and drive market expansion.

National Canola Policy Partners

By working collaboratively with our partners in the canola industry and other agriculture associations, we can have a stronger voice to impact change for farmers. The canola industry has two influential voices at the national level: the Canola Council of Canada (CCC) and the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA). Both organizations have offices in Ottawa, so they can maintain strong relationships with government at both a political and staff level.

Both CCC and the CCGA were recognized as top lobbyist organizations in 2022 by Lobby Monitor and POLITICO. Combined, CCC and the CCGA registered over 300 meetings with Members of Parliament, Senators and senior political and departmental staff in the federal lobbyist registry, participated in government consultations, and represented farmers and the canola industry on several government panels, advisory committees and working groups.
