2022 Inductees: Jim Bessel | Margaret Crowle (posthumous) | Jack Dawes | Leslie Hill | Jeffrey Schoenau | Mark Silzer
Jim Bessel played an instrumental role in the establishment of canola as a reliable, profitable crop for growers in Saskatchewan and Western Canada. Jim worked for 22 years as an agronomy specialist for the Canola Council of Canada (CCC). Jim’s work establishing the CCC’s Crop Production Centres built the foundation of agronomic canola research that canola growers still use today. He worked with researchers, equipment manufacturers and seed companies to reduce the challenges and provide a successful outcome for canola growers. He continues to be a consulting agrologist. Jim has been a passionate advocate for the canola industry over his career and has set a high standard that agronomists across the country still strive to achieve.
