SaskOilseeds Announces Election for Board of Directors

October 1, 2024 – Five nominations have been received to fill four director positions on the recently formed Saskatchewan Oilseeds Development Commission Board of Directors. Three of the nominees are current SaskOilseeds directors who are eligible to run for a second term, while the other two nominees are former SaskFlax directors. An election will take place in November.

The five candidates are:

Registered producers* will receive a letter the week of November 1st with instructions on how to select their director choices from the nominated candidates in the online voting platform. Alternatively, the option to vote by paper ballot will be offered to registered producers upon request. The Returning Officer will be Nicole Yip, Levy Central Senior Operations Representative. Voting must be completed by November 29th.

Keith Fournier has reached his tenure, serving eight years as a Director, and will depart the Board in January following SaskOilseeds’ AGM - to be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon in concert with Sask Crops Forum.

*A registered producer is any producer who has sold canola and/or flax in either of the previous two crop years and has not requested a levy refund in the past year.

SaskCanola (est. 1991) and SaskFlax (est. 1996) amalgamated in 2024. The newly formed SaskOilseeds is a producer-led organization, established in 2024 and supported by 17,000 levy-paying Saskatchewan canola growers and 3,000 levy-paying Saskatchewan flax growers. SaskOilseeds’ mandate is to provide value to oilseed growers through research, advocacy, and market development.
