Seeking Cooperators for On-Farm Research Trials

February 28, 2024 - In its inaugural year of 2023, SaskCanola's Top Notch Farming trials achieved a significant milestone by placing a dedicated focus on field-scale research. This strategic allocation of levy dollars directly benefits canola farmers by addressing on-farm challenges and providing solutions tailored to their specific needs. The investment in research at the farm level underscores SaskCanola's unwavering commitment to fostering producer prosperity.

The program aims to actively engage farmers and agronomists, seeking their input to shape future projects and cultivate a collaborative network involving SaskCanola, farmers, agronomists, and research specialists. Currently, the organization is accepting applications for the 2024 trial year.

Why participate in on-farm research?

Participating in on-farm research offers numerous advantages. It allows individuals to become part of a dynamic network comprising fellow growers and agronomists who share a keen interest in field-scale research and the collaborative sharing of on-farm results. Notably, the results are established using participants' own equipment, under their unique farm conditions, and management practices. This personalized approach aids farmers in making informed decisions based on their specific circumstances.

To further support participants, a dedicated research specialist or agronomist will be available to guide them through every step of the research process and collect valuable data throughout the growing season. Additionally, those involved in the program gain primary access to the results of other on-farm, field-scale trials conducted in Saskatchewan.

This initiative is exclusively available to registered canola growers in good standing, reflecting SaskCanola's commitment to advancing agricultural research and enhancing the overall well-being of canola producers.
